In his role as Head of the International Graduate Programme at Kingston University, Paul Stafford was charged with forging new academic links across the world. Some of the most prestigious and successful were in Japan – in Tokyo and Osaka – but most notably, with the renowned Hiroshima City University. Amongst the results of this, most amicable and mutually beneficial link, were student exchange programmes, staff exhibitions, visiting lectureships and the monumental Hibakshu project.
